+i like to play toys. sometimes toys is having a backpack full of gizmos just in case you encounter a problem that can be solved with a gizmo. you remember the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, and the idea of 'always know where your towel is' in case you encounter something that can be solved with a towel? like being too wet, or too dry, or needing to touch something which is too hot or too cold, or to keep your butt clean when you sit on the dirt in the park, or rolled up as a wrist rest when typing... plus a bunch of fantasy space stuff too like "astro-bullfighting" i suppose.

+well anyway for me, playing toys sometimes looks like unpacking and repacking a backpack full of useful gizmos for situations like that. and i just feel like writing about that :3

+## main pocket

+a hand towel, for aforementioned reasons.

+a few plastic bags, bound with a hairtie. good for trash or shopping or for giving an item to someone who isn't wearing a backpack

+a small nylon fanny pack, for hiking i think. i bought this for the scenario where i need an accessible pocket and im not wearing pants with pockets. just buckle it in front like a kangeroo pouch. i used to use a tool belt for this, that would work too.

+a ball of string, because it sorta seems like the canonical thing to have in a bag like this. mostly just gets used for playing cats cradle but you never know!

+## side pockets
+
+a recyclable aluminium water bottle. you can get twelve-packs of these. i typically buy disposable water bottles and just keep refilling them for months, both so i can give them away if needed and because its a cost effective way to put one in every room so i have no excuse not to hydrate :)

+a handful of napkins or paper towels. useful when i dont want to dirty the main towel, i.e. wiping up small spills or blowing my nose

+sometimes i swap one of the side pockets for an umbrella, if its the right season for that.
